- CARAGUATA FIBREVery long, soft, silky leaf fibre of good strength, obtamed from the Bromelia plant in Paraguay, used for ropes. The plant grows better wild than cultivated, and has many thorns, making it difficult to gather. It grows everywhere, and after the plant is cut down, new shoots spring up from the roots.
